DIY Tutorial Head Piece

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Yesterday I posted these pictures on Instagram of DIY head pieces I made. Someone then commented if I had a YouTube video on how to do them! Sadly, I don't (I know - I haven't made a video in forever - SORRY!). But I did decide to show you step by step on how I made them.

{ what you'll need: }

Enough chain to wrap around your head - you can get this at Michael's or any craft store
Two or three jump rings - again you can get this at Michael's or any craft store
Pliers - flat nose ones are the best
A charm (optional)

{ step one }

Take your chain and measure it on the side of your head so that the chain is loosely wrapped from the middle of your forehead to the middle of the back of your head

Make sure the chain isn't wrapped too tightly because you do want the chain to be falling loosely on the side.

Once you've found a good length, take your pliers and open the link of the chain to where the length fit for you.

You'll need two of these but you won't have to measure again. Just take the piece you made and make another the same length!

{ step two }

Take your chain and measure it down the middle of your head so that the chain falls where you want it to in the front and in the back

Once you've found a good length, take your pliers and open the link of the chain to where the length fit for you.

{ step three }

You should now have three pieces of chains.

Line the chains up in order of long short long

Take a jump ring and open it up with your pliers

Place the chains on to the jump ring in the order the chains are laid out (long short long)

Once all three chains are in - close the jump ring with your pliers

{ step four }

The best way close the head piece is to lay it flat out with the chains in the order of long short long

Take a jump ring and open it up with your pliers and place the chains on to the jump ring in the order the chains are laid out (long short long)

Once all three chains are in - close the jump ring with your pliers

{ Tada! Done! }

And that's it!

{ Optional }

If you want to add a charm to the front of your head piece, just take an extra jump ring and place the charm into it

Place the jump chain on to the jump chain that connects the three chains in the front. Then close the jump ring with the pliers

{ Done! }
