El Ni·ño
/el ˈnēnyō/
noun
noun: El Niño; plural noun: El Niños
an irregularly occurring and complex series of climatic changes affecting the equatorial Pacific region and beyond every few years, characterized by the appearance of unusually warm, nutrient-poor water off northern Peru and Ecuador, typically in late December.
Thanks to El Niño, Edmonton has had great weather this winter! I don't think temperatures have dropped passed -20°C! I've been able to wear dresses and skirt (since I hate wearing pants) and not totally freeze my butt off! Not only that, but because the weather has been so great - my gas bill at home hasn't been super expensive! I remember last year looking at some of our bills and paying so much just to keep the heater on! I just hope that this weather stays all winter and I won't have to worry about a thing - especially winter driving - until spring time!
