"I've always had a thing for theme parks and their less-glorious cousins, amusement parks, the carnival midway, and others of such ilk. "

KDays

I'm like 99% sure I'm explained how much I love KDays in Edmonton. But I love KDays; and for many reasons at that! If you don't know what KDays is, it's a carnival that comes once a year to Edmonton - there are rides, concerts, shows, games and best of love carnival food!! And that's what makes KDays so much fun! The usually have decent artists who come for their concerts, and it's free for anyone who buys admission! They have tons of fun games - Roller Bowler, Over and Under, and so many more! They have my all time favourite ride - the Zipper which does all sorts of turns and twists! And best of all they have the best carnival food and bring out new things to try every year!

The only downfall to KDays is that everything is SO EXPENSIVE! I mean it's expected and I know every year I go, I'm gonna dish out anywhere between $80 to $120 dollars for just being there! But that's probably because I will go out and eat everything I crave all year in that one day. I will stock up on junk food and eat till I will have a heart attack. Do I really need to eat all that food? Probably not! Can I get carnival food anywhere else? Most likely, I could. But it's just 100% better when you're eating it all at KDays!

And if you're going to go on rides, expect the lineups to be long. To endure that on a hot day isn't always fun. And if it happens to be on the weekend, expect to wait even longer because everyone and their dogs will be at KDays. Even though I sometimes think I've outgrown rides, I see the Zipper and instantly realize I love rides that I just have to go on that ride every year they have it!

But honestly, I can put aside all the flaws of KDays and still have an amazing time. I've been going to KDays every summer since I was a kid and it's just so nostalgic!

What's your favourite summer event? Do you have any carnivals that come around once a year?

  1. As a gamer, I've noticed how similar gaming and sports really are. Both require focus, strategy, and a ton of practice. The more these worlds merge, the more people can appreciate what both athletes and gamers bring to the table.
